Jorge Rodriguez was born on August 17th, 1976 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin but was raised in Mexico until 11. He then went on to live in California, Hawaii, Texas and Colorado throughout his adolescence before settling in Utah. While in Utah Rodriguez hosted a Spanish radio show Cada Domingo broadcasted out of Park City. Very involved in his community Rodriguez works as an artist, a board member for the Organization Artes De Mexico en Utah, and as an educator in the Salt Lake City school District. 

Growing up and coming in and out of the states from Mexico, Rodriguez has maintained a strong connection to both English and Spanish. Finishing highschool in Mexico he came back to the US where he also got a GED. Rodriguez has two older sisters who he is close with and who stuck together when moving. When he first moved to Utah, Rodriguez lived in Heber where he was faced with culture shock, predijuce, and racism. Through these experiences he decided to investigate more about his ancestry, culture, and what it means to be Chicano. Through self-lead research via the internet and books Rodriguez learn about the history of the Chicano civil rights Movement and became passionate about rediscovering the truths of Mexico's history, not from the view of the colonizers.  

Rodriguez also served in the military from 1998 to 2002/2003. Initially joining to be able to afford to go to college, he was left questioning a lot about the systems he worked in and the stories he was told.  During this time, he was deployed in Kuwait when the events of 9/11 occurred, and he witness how the military changed with the rise in racism, xenophobia, and profiling. Also, during his time, he witnessed the unfair pay wages to soldiers while other large funds were contributing to creating waste. As soon as his contract ended, he left the military. Rodrigez holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Utah Valley University. His artwork is very politically motivated and is inspired by the ways art has been able to create change throughout history through highlighting issues and creating a space to learn and conversate about change. Past work has focused on subjects such as pollution, waste, and overconsumption.  

A big supporter of education, Rodriguez has worked in the Park City school district, Salt Lake City School district, and organizations such as Arts Kids and Artes de México en Utah. He strives to allow minority children to be able to feel pride in their culture and histories teaching them about the narratives which can undermine the true events.
