ALA Core Monograph
The analyzed survey response data will be included in an accepted ALA Core monograph, Digital Library Outreach and Instruction to be published sometime in late 2023 or early 2024. This monograph will consider the various ways digital library managers and staff can foster relationships with faculty, students, and the broader community to encourage awareness and use of digital library collections. Questions explored will include:
How do digital library practitioners promote their unique resources in ways that go beyond placing items in an accessible repository?
What are ways in which digital libraries and the people that develop them can contribute to faculty, student, and community research?
How can people with Information Technology expertise contribute to the development of technology skills and digital literacies?
This publication will reframe the digital library, situating it as a platform for outreach to a variety of communities. With the development of community-based collections, this provides opportunities to engage in collaborative efforts with underserved communities and expand the breadth of materials and representation in digital library collections. Tips for teaching, program administration, outreach activities and promotion will be included.
