People

The state of Utah has been founded upon Mormon principles that are more reserved or conservative as their life revolves around the church. Skier culture is very close to the direct opposite of that with much of the culture revolving around recklessness, partying, and having fun. When more skiing began to get popular and attract more visitors the very types of people had to find a way to blend together and coexist. Through my research, I have found the people of Utah have found ways of doing so.

There are more LDS based cities such as Provo and the surrounding Utah county, as well as skier based cities such as Park City and then there is the Salt Lake valley, which has blended the two into one cohesive town. People of all walks roam the streets and occupy the houses and apartments, and the city itself is filled with a diverse and accepting atmosphere. Everyone respects each other and each other's beliefs. The city shuts down not only on Sundays but also on random Mondays or Tuesdays when there has been a big powder dump in the Cottonwoods. The tourism created by each group has created a flourishing economy and healthy environment to live in... every person who comes can find ‘their people’.

Hi my name’s Emma, I’m a Parks, Recreation, and Tourism major from Redwood City, California. I joined Block U because I figured it would helpme meet people who have similiar interests, and over the past year i found that to be true. I love the little family that has grown from our class andcan’t wait to see our friendships remain strong even after it is over.
