Olympics

Winter Sports are a big deal out here in Utah and is an activity lots of students do on weekends during the winter. Though ski sports were still going on, the 2002 Winter Olympics really put Utah on the map for the amazing terrain and snow it has to offer. The Winter Olympics was a huge event for the state of Utah bringing in tons of new facilities and jobs during the games and also brought attention to a state that was in need of an economic boost. With several sports being in the games it allowed Utah to show off how enjoyable these mountains are. The Winter Olympics helped make Utah the state it is today with countless tourists coming in and out each year to ski, skate, bobsled, and many other outdoor activities.
The Olympics completely changed Utah and made it the state that it is today. The economy took a massive boost from the Olympics coming and have impacted it entirely into the massive outdoor sport state that it is today. The sports that were included in the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics was the biathlon, bobsled, luge, curling, ice hockey, figure skating, speed skating, and skiing. Though not all of these sports are performed by everyone, having 7 different sporting events be present in the games allowed people to see what winter activities were possible here. Also being able to host an Olympic game which is where all the best athletes in these sports perform shows that this state can offer world class outdoor winter sports. By putting Utah on the map like this it impacted the amount of people coming into the state during the winter months. This instantly boosted the economy for Utah and it has made it a huge winter destination for years to come. By putting Utah on the map it has also opened up the doors to selling the summer activities available in Utah. Though the northern part of Utah is where all the good snow is, the southern part offers some of the best national parks in all of America and also several outdoor activities. This has also helped boost the economy and all stemmed from the Winter Olympics. It also helped boost the economy a lot too through creating several new job opportunities at resorts and during the games itself. The games allowed several people to help set up places for events to be held which could take up to several weeks to construct and also take apart after the games were over. This ended up boosting the overall employment in Utah by 35,000 jobs a year drastically impacting the economy of the state. The Olympics were a huge deal for Utah putting the state on the world scene as being a world class ski area to go during holidays and vacations. This has made Utah the thriving economic state it is today providing new job opportunities, increasing employment, and making it a world renown place to go ski in the United States.
