Holly Sebahar

Holly Sebahar is a beloved professor and lecturer of organic chemistry at the University of Utah. From her days as an undergraduate student at the University of Minnesota Morris studying biology, to pursuing graduate school at Colorado State University, she discovered her passion for teaching was matched only by her love of organic chemistry. She earned her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 2002 and found inspiration for her teaching style from her Organic chemistry professor, Dr. Nancy Carpenter, and while working with the distinguished Dr. James Bonk at Duke University. Since coming to the University of Utah, she was recognized by the LDSSA for the Excellence in Education award in 2010, and most recently, she earned the Distinguished Teaching Award in 2020, widely regarded as one of the highest honors granted by the university. She is highly involved in the American Chemical Society chapter, discussing her engagement with student-led sustainability efforts as well as research in higher education and the impact of several mentors throughout her career.
