Welcome! This exhibit shows historic images and documents related to Lt. Colonel Allen Allensworth, a Chaplain and respected orator who once was stationed at Utah’s Fort Douglas with the 24th Infantry in the U.S. Army, a historically famous Buffalo Soldier regiment.

The exhibit was created by Librarian Allyson Mower in support of a live re-enactment of Col. Allensworth's most famous speech in the Post Chapel at Fort Douglas. The live re-enactment was organized by Alice Burch of the Sema Hadithi African American Heritage and Culture Foundation in partnership with Faamai Taupau of the U of U Veterans Support Center and Meligha Garfield of the U of U Black Cultural Center.
